【摘要】:Eddy-currentexaminationisanondestructivemethodoflocatingsurfacediscontinuitiesinaproduct.Signalscanbeproducedbydiscontinuitieslocatedonthesurfaceoftherod.Sincethedensityofeddy-currentsdecreasesnearlyexponentiallyasthedistancefromthesurfaceincreases,deep-seateddefectsmaybeundetected.Someindicationsobtainedbythispracticemaynotberelevanttoproductquality.Forexample,asignalmaybecausedbyminuteflawsorirregularities,byanomaliesinthematerial,orbyotherfactorssuchasoperatorerror,oracombinationthereof,thatarenotdetrimentaltotheenduseoftheproduct.Nonrelevantindicationscanmaskunacceptablediscontinuities.Ontheotherhand,relevantindicationsarethosethatmayresultfromnonacceptablediscontinuitiesandshouldbedeterminedbyagreementbetweentheuserandthesupplier.Anyindicationthatisbelievedtobeirrelevantshallberegardedasunacceptableuntilitisdemonstratedbyreexaminationorothermeanstobenonrelevant.1.1Thispracticecoverstheproceduresthatshallbefollowedinelectromagnetic(eddy-current)examinationofcopperredrawrodsfordetectingdiscontinuitiesorimperfectionsofaseveritylikelytocausefailureormarkedlyimpairsurfacequalityoftherod.Theseproceduresareapplicableforcontinuouslengthsofredrawrodindiametersfromx00BC;to13/8in.(6.4to35mm)suitableforfurtherfabricationintoelectricalconductors.1.2Thispracticecoversredrawrodmadefromtough-pitchoroxygen-freecoppers.1.3Theproceduresdescribedinthispracticearebasedonmethodsformakinguseofstationaryencirclingannulartestcoilsystems.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
