【摘要】:Thistestmethodmaybeusedformaterialdevelopment,characterization,designdatageneration,andqualitycontrolpurposes.Thistestmethodisspecificallyappropriatefordeterminingthemodulusofmaterialsthatareelastic,homogeneous,andisotropic(1).Thistestmethodaddressestheroomtemperaturedeterminationofdynamicmoduliofelasticityofslenderbars(rectangularcrosssection)androds(cylindrical).Flatplatesanddisksmayalsobemeasuredsimilarly,buttherequiredequationsfordeterminingthemoduliarenotaddressedherein.Thisdynamictestmethodhasseveraladvantagesanddifferencesfromstaticloadingtechniquesandfromresonanttechniquesrequiringcontinuousexcitation.Thetestmethodisnondestructiveinnatureandcanbeusedforspecimenspreparedforothertests.Thespecimensaresubjectedtominutestrains;hence,themoduliaremeasuredatorneartheoriginofthestress-straincurve,withtheminimumpossibilityoffracture.Theimpulseexcitationtestusesanimpacttoolandsimplesupportsforthetestspecimen.Thereisnorequirementforcomplexsupportsystemsthatrequireelaboratesetuporalignment.Thistechniquecanbeusedtomeasureresonantfrequenciesaloneforthepurposesofqualitycontrolandacceptanceoftestspecimensofbothregularandcomplexshapes.Arangeofacceptableresonantfrequenciesisdeterminedforaspecimenwithaparticulargeometryandmass.Thetechniqueisparticularlysuitablefortestingspecimenswithcomplexgeometries(otherthanparallelepipeds,cylinders/rods,ordisks)thatwouldnotbesuitablefortestingbyotherprocedures.Anyspecimenwithafrequencyresponsefallingoutsidetheprescribedfrequencyrangeisrejected.Theactualmodulusofeachspecimenneednotbedeterminedaslongasthelimitsoftheselectedfrequencyrangeareknowntoincludetheresonantfrequencythatthespecimenmustpossessifitsgeometryandmassarewithinspecifiedtolerances.Ifathermaltreatmentoranenvironmentalexposureaffectstheelasticresponseofthetestspecimen,thistestmethodmaybesuitableforthedeterminationofspecificeffectsofthermalhistory,environmentexposure,andsoforth.Specimendescriptionsshouldincludeanyspecificthermaltreatmentsorenvironmentalexposuresthatthespecimenshavereceived.1.1Thistestmethodcoversdeterminationofthedynamicelasticpropertiesofelasticmaterialsatambienttemperatures.Specimensofthesematerialspossessspecificmechanicalresonantfrequenciesthataredeterminedbytheelasticmodulus,mass,andgeometryofthetestspecimen.Thedynamicelasticpropertiesofamaterialcanthereforebecomputedifthegeometry,mass,andmechanicalresonantfrequenciesofasuitable(rectangularorcylindricalgeometry)testspecimenofthatmaterialcanbemeasured.DynamicYoung''smodulusisdeterminedusingtheresonantfrequencyineithertheflexuralorlongitudinalmodeofvibration.Thedynamicshearmodulus,ormodulusofrigidity,isfoundusingtorsionalresonantvibrations.DynamicYoung''smodulusanddynamicshearmodulusareusedtocomputePoisson''sratio.1.2Althoughnotspecificallydescribedherein,thistestmethodcanalsobeperformedatcryogenicandhightemperatureswithsuitableequipmentmodificationsandappropriatemodificationstothecalculationstocompensateforthermalexpansion.1.3TherearematerialspecificASTMstandardsthatcoverthedeterminationofresonancefrequenciesandelasticpropertiesofspecificmaterialsbysonicresonanceorbyimpulseexcitationofvibration.TestMethodsC215,C623,C747,C848,C1198,andC1259
