【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusefulasarapid,nondestructivetechniqueforthecalculationofthein-placewatercontentofsoilandrockatdesireddepthsbelowthesurface.Thistestmethodisusefulforinformationalandresearchpurposes.ItshouldonlybeusedforqualitycontrolandacceptancetestingwhencorrelatedtoactualwatercontentsusingproceduresandmethodsdescribedinA1.2.3.Thenon-destructivenatureofthistestmethodallowsrepetitivemeasurementstobemadeatasingletestlocationforstatisticalanalysisandtomonitorchangesovertime.ThefundamentalassumptionsinherentinthistestmethodarethatthematerialundertestishomogeneousandhydrogenpresentisintheformofwaterasdefinedbyTestMethodD2216.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthecalculationofthewatercontentofsoilandrockbythermalizationorslowingoffastneutronswheretheneutronsourceandthethermalneutrondetectorareplacedatthedesireddepthintheboredholelinedbyanaccesstube(seeNote1).1.2Thewatercontent,inmassperunitvolumeofthematerialundertest,iscalculatedbycomparingthethermalneutroncountratewithpreviouslyestablishedcalibrationdata(seeAnnexA1).1.3Aprecisionstatementhasnotbeendevelopedforthisstandardatthistime.Therefore,thisstandardshouldnotbeusedforacceptanceorrejectionofamaterialforpurchasingpurposesunlesscorrelatedtootheracceptedASTMmethods.1.4ThevaluesexpressedinSIunitsareregardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninparenthesesmaybeapproximateandareprovidedforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsaregiveninSection7.
