【摘要】:Thispracticeissuitableforthecalculationoftheaveragemacrotexturedepthfromprofiledata.Theresultsofthiscalculation(MPD)haveproventobeusefulinthepredictionofthespeeddependenceofwetpavementfriction.2TheMPDcanbeusedtoestimatetheresultofameasurementofmacrotexturedepthusingavolumetrictechniqueaccordingtoE965.ThevaluesofMPDandMTDdifferduetothefinitesizeoftheglassspheresusedinthevolumetrictechniqueandbecausetheMPDisderivedfromatwo-dimensionalprofileratherthanathree-dimensionalsurface.Thereforeatransformationequationmustbeused.Thispracticemaybeusedwithpavementmacrotextureprofilestakenonactualroadsurfacesorfromcoresorlaboratorypreparedsamples.Aggregatesize,shape,anddistributionarefeatureswhicharenotaddressedinthispractice.Thispracticeisnotmeanttoprovideacompleteassessmentoftexturecharacteristics.Inparticular,careshouldbeusedwheninterpretingtheresultforporousorgroovedsurfaces.Thispracticedoesnotaddresstheproblemsassociatedwithobtainingameasuredprofile.Laserorotheropticalnoncontactmethodsofmeasuringprofilesareusuallypreferred.However,contactmethodsusingastylusalsocanprovideaccurateprofilesifproperlyperformed.1.1Thispracticecoversthecalculationofmeanprofiledepthfromaprofileofpavementmacrotexture.1.2Themeanprofiledepthhasbeenshowntobeusefulinpredictingthespeedconstant(gradient)ofwetpavementfriction.1.3AlineartransformationofthemeanprofiledepthcanprovideanestimateofthemeantexturedepthmeasuredaccordingtoTestMethodE965.1.4ThevaluesstatedinSI(metric)unitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Theinch-poundequivalentsarerationalized,ratherthanexactmathematicalconversions.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
